The York Biomedical Research Institute (YBRI) aims to advance discoveries in biomedical science, to inspire, train, and mentor the next generation of biomedical researchers. We aim to understand disease processes to positively impact health and wellbeing.

YBRI hosts over 90 principal investigators whose expertise covers a range of disciplines, addressing biomedical challenges on regional, national and global scales.

Our Bioscience Technology Facility is rather unique, providing access to a wide range of technologies and expertise in an integrated manner that helps driving our research forward efficiently and cost effectively. Our expert facilities grant us access to state-of-the-art equipment and include:

• Genomics and Bioinformatics

• Imaging and Cytometry 

• Metabolomics & Proteomics

• Protein Production 

• Molecular Interactions

The University of York fosters a highly collaborative environment.

 

In the Biology Department, we work in close proximity with the Physics and Chemistry Departments as well as the York Structural Biology Laboratory (YSBL), including the York Cryo-EM facility.
